Punky girl-group The Slits doing “I Heard It Through The Grapevine.” I should mention I heard this on PRX, the Public Radio Exchange, on satellite radio recently.
A live version of “Tear-Stained Letter” performed by Jo-El Sonnier and Richard Thompson (Thompson wrote the song). When musicians are said to be “cookin’,” this is what is meant. Great song.

So here’s an interesting hypothetical scenario.
You’re at a restaurant and it’s your birthday. You want to be brought the customary candle-impaled piece of cake or brownie, but are averse to the traditional ugly off-key serenade. Are you entitled to the dessert sans-song? Or must you endure the chanting to qualify for the dessert? This conundrum needs to be explored on an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
This is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a while. ”Can I Keep You?” by Phillip Roebuck.
“The Obvious Child,” by Paul Simon.
“Irish Rover” performed by The Dubliners and The Pogues.
Let’s chase the dragon, Tom Waits
